What if someone sells their REs and then applies for the rights issue?

If you sell your Rights Entitlements (REs) and then attempt to apply for the rights issue, your application will be rejected. The registrar and transfer agent (RTA) will verify the number of REs available in your Demat account during the allotment process. If you have already sold them, you no longer possess the right to apply for those shares.
