Do I need a Demat account for BTST?

Yes, a Demat account is mandatory for BTST (Buy Today, Sell Tomorrow) trading. Since cash market trades follow a T+1 settlement cycle, a Demat account is required to manage delivery obligations and address the risk of share shortages during payout.
