Why can’t I sell some shares because of short delivery?

You cannot sell some shares because of a short delivery, which means you do not physically possess the shares in your demat account at the time of sale or for the settlement date. Stock market regulations in India require that you deliver the shares you sell to the exchange by the settlement date (T+1 day).
