Why are some of your shares locked?

If you're trying to sell shares but getting an error, it could be because of one of these reasons:

  1. An existing sell order is already placed

You might have already placed a sell order for these shares. If that order is still open, you won’t be able to place a new one for the same quantity. It’s a good idea to check your open orders before trying again.

  1. The stock is under T2T (Trade-to-Trade) restriction

Some stocks belong to the Trade-to-Trade (T2T) category. These can only be sold after they are fully delivered to your Demat account. This delivery usually takes one trading day from the date of purchase. Until then, the shares will remain locked and unavailable for selling.
