What is a Settlement Holiday?

A settlement holiday is a day when clearing and settlement of trades are paused because banks or depositories (like NSDL and CDSL) are closed. Trading may still be open, but the transfer of shares to your Demat account and funds to your bank account is completed on the next working day.
