What does “haircut” mean here?

DP Haircut is the arbitrary reduction in the value of a security to calculate the risk cover. Haircut is applied on any collateral kept with the broker. The haircut percentage decides as to how much value is blocked by Ventura when Holding Margin is enabled. The balance amount is then released to the client as a limit against shares.
