How the Screener Works

Every stock in this list passes three filters together. The goal is not just to find cheap stocks, but to isolate names that are actually moving with strength.

1. LTP below ₹100

This is a price-band filter, not a quality filter. A stock at ₹85 can be a strong business, while a stock at ₹85 can also be a weak one that has fallen from much higher levels.

2. Price above Pivot R1

Pivot points are based on the previous session’s high, low, and close, and are used to identify likely support and resistance levels. When the price moves above R1, it signals that buyers have already overcome the first resistance zone and the stock may continue toward R2.

3. Volume above the 5-day average

Volume is used as confirmation. A breakout on weak volume often fails, but a breakout with above-average volume suggests stronger buying interest and reduces the chance that the move is just noise.

Why This Setup Matters

Using all three filters together creates a more useful momentum screen than using price alone. LTP below ₹100 gives you the universe, Pivot R1 breakout gives you direction, and above-average volume tells you the move is backed by participation.

That is why this screener is better than a simple “stocks under ₹100” list. It focuses on stocks that are cheap and active, which makes them more relevant for short-term trading interest. For traders, the key idea is not affordability alone, but whether price and volume are confirming each other.

What To Watch Before Acting

Before trading any name from this list, it is important to check the chart context. A breakout from a base is stronger than a one-day bounce inside a downtrend.

Also watch how far R2 is from the current price. If R2 is very close, the upside may be limited; if there is meaningful room to R2, the setup is more interesting. Finally, check for upper-circuit situations, because a circuit-hit stock may be difficult to buy even if the signal looks strong.

Risks to Keep in Mind

Sub-₹100 stocks can move fast, but they can also reverse fast. Not every R1 breakout sustains, especially if the move is news-driven or happens on thin liquidity.

Upper circuits are another important risk because they can trap orders and make entry difficult. Exchange-imposed circuit limits exist to curb extreme volatility, but they also mean execution risk is real in fast-moving stocks. In practice, that means this screener should be used as an idea generator, not as a standalone buy signal.

Cleaner Headline Options

If you want a more polished title, these options work well:

  • Stocks Under ₹100 in India: NSE and BSE Momentum Screener
  • Sub-₹100 Stocks Showing Breakout Momentum in India
  • Stocks Under ₹100 with Pivot Breakout and Volume Confirmation
  • High-Momentum Stocks Under ₹100 in NSE and BSE

Frequently Asked Questions

It means the stock’s Last Traded Price has risen above Resistance 1, the first resistance level calculated from the previous session’s High, Low, and Close. R1 is a level where selling pressure often appears during the day. When price breaks above it, it suggests buyers are stronger than sellers at that point and the stock has room to move toward R2, the next resistance level. In the context of sub-₹100 stocks, this is a meaningful intraday signal, especially when accompanied by rising volume.

Pivot points for NSE and BSE stocks are calculated using the previous session’s High, Low, and Close: Pivot Point = (High + Low + Close) ÷ 3. Resistance 1 is (2 × PP) − Low and Resistance 2 is PP + (High − Low). These levels are recalculated daily after market close and are valid for the following trading session. Most Indian trading platforms including Zerodha Kite, Upstox, and Ventura display these levels automatically on intraday charts.

Volume above the 5-day average means more shares are trading today than on a typical recent session. For sub-₹100 stocks, which are often driven by retail participation, a volume spike alongside a price breakout is the strongest signal that the move is backed by genuine buying. Without volume, a pivot breakout can be a false signal that reverses quickly once the initial buying exhausts itself. The 5-day average smooths out single-day anomalies and gives you a reliable baseline for what ‘normal’ looks like for that specific stock.

Not necessarily because of the price. Risk in stocks comes from business quality, financial health, liquidity, and governance — not the per-share price. A ₹75 stock can be a fundamentally strong mid-cap company that never split its shares. A ₹500 stock can be a financially distressed company in a declining sector. That said, in practice the sub-₹100 universe in India does contain a higher proportion of smaller, less-liquid companies where governance risk and volatility are genuinely higher. Always check the market cap, promoter holding, and balance sheet, not just the price.

Primarily intraday. The pivot R1/R2 framework is a daily technical setup — the levels reset every session. A stock that clears R1 and approaches R2 on a given day might not sustain that move into the next session. Positional traders can use this screener as a discovery tool — if a stock is consistently showing up on this list across multiple sessions, it signals sustained buying momentum that might be worth researching fundamentally. But the primary use case is identifying intraday momentum in sub-₹100 stocks with volume confirmation.

A generic list of stocks under ₹100 gives you hundreds of companies in every possible condition — trending up, trending down, going sideways, highly liquid, near illiquid. This screener adds two specific technical conditions on top of the price filter: the stock must have already cleared R1 and be moving toward R2 (directional momentum), and today’s volume must be above the 5-day average (conviction behind the move). That narrows the list to stocks where something is actively happening today, not just stocks that happen to be priced below ₹100.

Both are resistance levels, but they represent different price zones. R1 is the first resistance level above the pivot point — the level where selling pressure commonly appears first in the session. R2 is the second resistance level, further above, representing stronger resistance that is typically only reached on days with significant buying momentum. The distance between R1 and R2 reflects the previous session’s trading range: a wider range means a larger gap between R1 and R2, and therefore more potential upside between the two levels. When a stock clears R1 and approaches R2, it’s showing the kind of sustained momentum that often indicates a strong directional session.

The screener updates in real time during NSE and BSE trading hours with a 15-minute data delay. Pivot levels are calculated daily using the previous session’s High, Low, and Close and are fixed for the trading day. The 5-day average volume is recalculated at the start of each session based on the most recent 5 completed trading days. The screener is most useful during active market hours when stocks are actively crossing levels — checking it before market open will show yesterday’s data.
