Shriram Finance Ltd (SFL), incorporated in 1979, is a deposit-taking NBFC registered with the RBI, formed through the merger of Shriram City Union Finance (SCUF) and the demerged undertaking of Shriram Capital Limited into SFL, then known as Shriram Transport Finance Company Ltd (STFCL). This restructuring resulted in Shriram Capital and SCUF ceasing to exist, simplifying the group's structure. SFL holds an 84.2% stake in Shriram Housing Finance Ltd (SHFL), which continues to operate as its subsidiary. SFL belongs to the Shriram Group, a well-established financial services conglomerate with a strong presence in lending and asset financing; its promoters have focused on streamlining operations and expanding market reach to drive financial inclusion across diverse borrower segments. The company's offerings span vehicle financing for commercial vehicles (both new and pre-owned), tractors, and passenger vehicles, alongside retail financing products earlier managed by SCUF, including small enterprise loans, two-wheeler loans, gold loans, housing loans, and auto/personal loans, serving a broad customer base. SFL ranks as India's second-largest retail NBFC and holds a dominant position in pre-owned commercial vehicle financing, backed by a diversified loan portfolio, strong capitalisation, a stable earnings profile, and a well-diversified funding mix that supports long-term financial resilience.
