What are Futures contracts?

Futures are a form of derivatives that allow investors and traders to enter into an agreement to buy or sell underlying assets for a set price at a future date(expiry date).

A future contract is used by investors and traders for two purposes, to speculate the price movement of the stock or to hedge their long or short positions in order to protect themselves from price volatility.
