L&T shares rise after strong Q1 FY27 results and order book growth

L&T reported a 14% YoY rise in Q1 FY27 profit to ₹4,123 crore, while revenue grew 7% to ₹67,942 crore. Shares gained nearly 4% as strong order inflows and a ₹7.78 lakh crore order book improved investor sentiment despite margin pressure.

The stocks of Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T) rose by about 4% in the morning session on July 29, following the company’s report of robust June quarter earnings. The shares of the company started trading at ₹3,900 on BSE in comparison with its previous closing price of ₹3,832.75 and jumped by 3.8% to ₹3,978.

This growth was prompted by the company’s report of a 14% year-over-year (YoY) growth in its PAT for Q1FY27.

L&T Q1FY27 Results: Profit Rises 14%, Revenue Growth at 7%

The consolidated net profit was ₹4,123 crore in the quarter ending June 30, 2026, as opposed to ₹3,617 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The consolidated revenues rose 7% on an annual basis to ₹67,942 crore from ₹63,678 crore due to execution gains in a number of business segments.

The international revenues had a significant bearing, with ₹34,393 crore representing 51% of the total revenue.

The operating profitability was not looking good. The EBITDA dropped 3% on an annual basis to ₹6,116 crore from ₹6,318 crore, with the EBITDA margin declining to 9% from 9.9%.

Strong Order Inflows Boost Growth Outlook

During Q1FY27, L&T has bagged orders worth ₹1,08,014 crore, which shows 14% year-over-year increase. The orders have been placed in areas like residential and commercial buildings, transportation infrastructure, ferrous metals, offshore wind, and heavy engineering.

The consolidated backlog till 30th June, 2026 was recorded to be ₹7,78,954 crore, which is 5% higher than March, 2026. The orders coming from international operations made up 52% of the total backlog and reflect the international presence of the company.

The international orders in the first quarter were recorded to be ₹60,702 crore, which was 56% of total orders.

Segment Performance: Green Energy and Technology Businesses Drive Growth

The L&T’s Energy – Green segment received orders worth ₹33,042 crore, a 58% increase YoY, attributable to ultra-mega offshore wind orders. In the segment, the order intake was made up of 98% international orders, and the order backlog stood at ₹1,46,700 crore.

In the Energy – Conventional segment, orders worth ₹3,053 crore were received, a decrease of 90% YoY attributable to deferred expected orders and a high base effect. Customer revenue was, however, up by 14% YoY to ₹14,239 crore.

Orders of ₹5,535 crore were made to the Manufacturing & Products segment, a YoY growth of 74% owing to refinery equipment package orders. Revenue was increased by 9% YoY to ₹4,486 crore.

The segment of Technology, Platforms & Services reported revenue of ₹14,627 crore, an increase of 15% YoY, with 92% international billing.

Operational income was ₹5,042 crore for L&T Financial Services, marking an increase of 27% YoY. The loan book was increased to ₹1,29,634 crore, with retail loans making up 98% of the book.

Order intake in the Realty segment was at ₹1,299 crore, a 32% increase YoY, while customer revenue was above ₹1,000 crore owing to increased residential handovers.

Why L&T Share Price Surged After Q1 Results

L&T stocks were up as the company saw profits above market expectations with robust inflow orders and a robust order book which boosted the investor sentiment.

The company reiterated its FY27 guidance and guided for 10-12% YoY growth in order inflow and revenues and 7.8% core E&C EBITDA margin.

The company highlighted the near-term execution risks due to geopolitical concerns in West Asia, however, they expect tendering activity and order wins to pick up starting 2QFY27.

Also, the company highlighted the amalgamation of L&T Power Development Limited, wholly owned subsidiary, with the company. Also, their energy hydrocarbon onshore business has won an EPC order valued at ₹5,000 crore to ₹10,000 crore from Kuwait Oil Company for Jurassic Light Oil Export Facilities & Network Enhancement Projects.

After the results, the market players stayed bullish about L&T on its strong order backlog, diversified portfolio and future growth prospects.
