SEBI brought in Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction (DDPI) to make things safer. The DDPI allows your broker to debit shares from your Demat account and deliver them to the Exchange whenever you sell them.
DDPI was introduced to reduce the cumbersome process of having to enter the CDSL TPIN and OTP every time you sell shares.
