Summary:

Welspun Corp shares surged up to 9% after securing its largest-ever ₹17,200 crore US pipe order, taking its global order book to a record $4.4 billion. The multi-year contract strengthens its position in North America's energy infrastructure market.

Welspun Corp has secured its largest-ever single order worth approximately ₹17,200 crore, or $1.8 billion, for the supply of pipes from its manufacturing facility in the US. The company announced the order in a regulatory filing late Thursday.

The order will be executed during FY28 and FY29 and takes Welspun Corp’s global order book to a record $4.4 billion, equivalent to around ₹42,100 crore. The company has not disclosed the customer, order volume or type of pipes to be supplied.

Welspun Corp said the contract substantially strengthens its order book, provides multi-year revenue visibility and validates the scale, quality and execution capabilities of its US operations.

Stronger Position in North American Energy Infrastructure

The order strengthens Welspun Corp’s presence in the North American energy infrastructure market, where the company has been expanding its manufacturing footprint to benefit from sustained demand for energy infrastructure.

The US is the company’s largest market outside India, contributing 27.2% of its revenue in FY26, according to Bloomberg data. India accounted for 71.7% of revenue, while other overseas markets contributed 1.1%.

The company has been seeing strong demand from multiple energy-related segments in the US. In its fourth-quarter earnings statement, Welspun Corp said its US spiral mill was booked through FY28. The company attributed the demand to rising LNG requirements, higher power demand linked to AI data centres and a revival in oil pipeline infrastructure.

The latest contract further supports its strategy of expanding manufacturing capabilities outside India while strengthening relationships with global energy customers.

Order Book Reaches Record $4.4 Billion

With the addition of the ₹17,200 crore order, Welspun Corp’s global order book has reached a record $4.4 billion, providing visibility for execution over the coming financial years.

The company said the contract positions it for sustained growth in the North American energy infrastructure market. Execution during FY28 and FY29 also provides a multi-year revenue opportunity, while the size of the order highlights the scale of its US operations.

Why Welspun Corp Shares Surged

Welspun Corp shares reacted sharply to the announcement, rising as much as 9% to an intraday high of ₹2,193 on the BSE on Friday, August 21.

The surge came after investors assessed the ₹17,200 crore contract as a major positive for the company’s future revenue visibility and order book. The record order, combined with strong demand for US energy infrastructure, LNG and oil pipelines, is expected to strengthen confidence in the company’s growth prospects.

However, the company has not disclosed the customer, pipe volumes or product specifications. The actual impact on revenue and profitability will therefore depend on the execution schedule, margins and detailed terms of the contract.
