Share

Summary:

LG Electronics India reported Q2 FY27 revenue of ₹7,380 crore, up 19.5% year on year, while profit after tax increased 25.7% to ₹489 crore. The company approved plans to enter Vehicle Solutions, subject to shareholder approval through a postal ballot.

LG Electronics India (NSE: LGEINDIA) reported a 25.7% rise in second-quarter profit on 5 November 2026 and, on the same day, announced that it is moving into automotive electronics. The board cleared the September quarter results, a new line of business called Vehicle Solutions and a change to the company's Memorandum of Association to allow it. The shares changed hands near ₹1,731 during the day, about 2.3% higher.

LG Electronics India Q2 FY27 Results: Revenue Up 19.5%, Profit After Tax Up 25.7%

Revenue from operations came to ₹7,380 crore, against ₹6,174 crore in the same quarter last year. Profit after tax rose to ₹489 crore from ₹389 crore. Growth picked up from the first quarter, when revenue had risen 15.5%.

Profit is lower than in the first quarter, but that pattern is not new. The April to June period covers the summer rush for air conditioners and refrigerators, and last year's profit also stepped down from ₹513 crore in Q1 to ₹389 crore in Q2. The year-on-year comparison is the cleaner one here.

Last year's September quarter was a soft base. Profit had dropped about 27% to ₹389 crore, the first set of results after the stock market debut, so part of this year's jump reflects an easy comparison.

LG Electronics India First-Half FY27 Performance

Adding the two quarters together gives a clearer picture. First-half revenue was about ₹14,613 crore, up roughly 17.5% from ₹12,437 crore a year earlier. Profit after tax for the half came to about ₹1,142 crore against ₹902 crore, a rise of close to 27%. Profit has grown faster than sales in both quarters, which points to better mix and cost control rather than volume alone.

Where the Quarter's Revenue Came From: Appliances and Air Solutions Versus Home Entertainment

The company reports two segments, and the split in the September quarter looked like this:

  • Home Appliances and Air Solutions brought in ₹4,772 crore, close to 65% of revenue. It covers air conditioners, refrigerators and washing machines.
  • Home Entertainment contributed ₹2,608 crore, close to 35%. This is mainly televisions and display products.

The earlier quarter offers a few clues about what is behind the numbers. In Q1 FY27, the operating margin was 12.5%, up from 11.4% a year before. Home Entertainment earned a segment margin of 19.0% as buyers moved to larger and costlier models, while appliances held steady at 11.5%. Management has linked this to premium products, exports and local manufacturing, and it also flagged commodity prices and currency swings as pressure points. A full operating margin for Q2 is the number to compare against that 12.5%.

Vehicle Solutions: LG Electronics India Enters Automotive Electronics

The bigger change is the new business. The board approved entry into Vehicle Solutions, which covers advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment, digital cockpits and high-performance computing for vehicles. Production is planned at the company's third plant, in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.

Three details are worth knowing:

  • The Memorandum of Association has to be amended so the company can carry on these activities, and that needs shareholder approval through a postal ballot.
  • The size of the investment and the start date were not part of the announcement.
  • Carmakers usually take a long time to test and approve a new electronics supplier, so revenue from this segment is unlikely to show up quickly.

For an investor, the move widens what the company sells. Until now the business has been built around household products. Vehicle electronics brings a different customer, which is the automaker, and a different buying cycle.

The company pays no dividend at present.

LG Electronics India Developments to Track After the Q2 Results

  • The outcome of the postal ballot on the change to the Memorandum of Association.
  • Details on how much will be invested in Vehicle Solutions, and when the Sri City lines are due to start.
  • The operating margin for Q2 and whether it stays above the 12.5% recorded in Q1.
  • Export growth once the new Sri City capacity is running.
  • Movement in commodity prices and the rupee, which management has named as risks.

In short, the September quarter showed faster growth and higher profit, and the board has opened a second front in automotive electronics. The financial effect of that second front will depend on the investment plan, which the company is yet to share.
