Share

Astra Microwave shares surged over 12% after securing a ₹2,205 crore order from HAL for the Uttam Radar programme. The five-year contract strengthens the company's defence order book and is nearly double its FY26 revenue. Strong FY26 earnings and growing defence opportunities further boosted investor sentiment.

The stock of Astra Microwave Products witnessed a rise of more than 12% during the first hour of trading on Friday, July 31, owing to the receipt of a major order valued at ₹2,205.23 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) for its defense business.

The share price rose up to 13.6% to touch an intraday high of ₹1,960. The stock was seen trading more than 12% higher at around 10:20 AM.

Astra Microwave Receives Major HAL Order

In the exchange filing, Astra Microwave Products announced that it has been awarded an order by HAL for the procurement of 122 Anti-Aircraft Auxiliary Units (AAAU) and 121 Interface Frames for the Uttam Radar project.

The agreement, which is worth ₹2,205.23 crore, is to be executed within a timeframe of five years. The total value of the deal is almost double of the FY26 revenue forecast of Astra Microwave, which is estimated to be ₹1,163 crore.

The Uttam Radar is an indigenously designed Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar, which has been made for use in fighter aircraft. This is one of the major projects under the Indian Government’s effort for indigenization of defense products.

Order Strengthens Defence Order Pipeline

The recent contract marks yet another addition to the increasing footprint of Astra Microwave in the Indian market of defence electronics. Previously, Astra Microwave had secured one more order from HAL through its joint venture, Astra Rafael Comsys Private Limited (ARC).

On 1 April 2026, an order worth ₹250.58 crore was placed by HAL's Bengaluru division to provide SDR systems. This project will be completed within 18 months.

ARC is known for manufacturing military communication systems and provides software-defined radios for defence purposes. The consecutive orders from HAL demonstrate the increased importance of Astra Microwave in the field of radars and communication systems for defence.

Strong FY26 Performance Supports Growth Outlook

The order for the large-scale defense project follows the company's impressive financial results in the fiscal year 2026. In the March quarter of 2026, Astra Microwave registered a net profit of ₹106 crore, an increase of 44.4% from ₹73.4 crore in the corresponding period in the previous year.

Revenue in the quarter was up by 19.7% at ₹488.2 crore, with the EBITDA margin increasing from 29.3% to 33.4%.

In the fiscal year 2026, the net profit for the company was ₹192.97 crore, up 26%, while revenue stood at ₹1,162.8 crore, an increase

Why Astra Microwave Stock Surged After the Event

The rally in the stock was because of the news of the HAL order worth ₹2,205 crore, which has considerably added to the clarity in terms of the order books. The investors felt that the deal was an important growth story, considering the current inclination of the government towards defence manufacturing.

The order further enhanced the growth outlook for the next five years, in view of the large size of the contract vis-a-vis the annual revenue base of the company.

Astra Microwave Share Price Performance

Even after falling by 2.51% to ₹1,729.20 on Thursday, Astra Microwave stocks have provided excellent gains in recent periods. The stock has risen 53.39% in the last three months, 75.90% so far in 2018, and 78.47% in the past 12 months.

The latest order from HAL is an even better indication of the company’s increasing defence portfolio.
