Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. (AESL) won a ₹4,700 crore transmission project in Maharashtra, triggering strong buying interest in its shares on Wednesday, August 26. The project will facilitate the evacuation of up to 4,500 MW of renewable and storage power while strengthening the inter-regional transmission corridor between the Western and Southern grids.
The project, titled “Network Expansion Scheme in Western Region to Cater to Pumped Storage Potential near Satara (up to 4500 MW) - Part A”, was awarded through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process, with AESL emerging as the lowest bidder. The project is being housed under the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Satara Power Transmission Ltd. and is expected to be delivered within 36 months. AESL(Adani Energy Solutions Ltd.) Share Price
Details of the ₹4,700 Crore Project
The project will transmit renewable energy generated in Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra and support the growing pumped storage ecosystem across Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). It includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, the Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station, along with associated transmission infrastructure.
The project will add 562 circuit kilometres (ckm) of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s portfolio. Following its completion, the company’s cumulative transmission network will increase to 29,739 ckm, while its total transformation capacity will rise to 1,43,425 MVA.
Why Adani Energy Solutions Shares Surged After the Event
AESL shares opened with an upside gap at ₹1,617 on the NSE on Wednesday and touched an intraday high of ₹1,634.90 within minutes of the opening bell. The stock also moved up from an intraday low of ₹1,588.80. At around 10:05 AM, the shares were trading 1.5% higher at ₹1,617 apiece.
The positive reaction came after the company announced the ₹4,700 crore project win, as the order strengthens AESL’s transmission portfolio and provides additional exposure to India’s expanding renewable energy and pumped storage infrastructure. The project is also aligned with the country’s efforts to expand its transmission network to support the target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel power capacity by 2030.

Management Commentary
Kandarp Patel, CEO of Adani Energy Solutions, said pumped storage projects are becoming a critical enabler of India’s clean energy transition by providing flexibility and reliability for integrating large-scale renewable energy. He added that the Satara project will create an important transmission backbone for renewable energy evacuation and energy storage deployment while strengthening power flows between Southern and Western India.
The stock’s intraday high of ₹1,634.90 brought it closer to its 52-week high and lifetime high of ₹1,789. The project win therefore provided a positive trigger for the stock, with investors focusing on the company’s expanding transmission network and its role in India’s renewable energy infrastructure build-out.
