Turning 60 comes with perks: A guide to Maharashtra’s Senior Citizen Card
Share

Turning 60 has its perks! Recently, I joined the senior citizen club, and honestly, the perks came as an unexpected surprise.

I just learned about the Maharashtra Senior Citizen Card (Jyeshtha Nagarik Olakhpatra) and the range of benefits it offers.

From 50%+ discounts on Maharashtra State Road Transport Corp (MSRTC) buses and higher interest rates on bank FDs to dedicated priority queues and hefty medical concessions at hospitals, it really makes senior residents feel valued.

If you or a loved one are turning 60, getting this card is incredibly easy:

1. Head over to the Aaple Sarkar portal online (or visit a local Maha E-Seva Kendra/Tahsildar office).
2. Submit your Aadhaar card, age proof, address proof, and a passport-size photo.
3. Download your card once verified!

Many thoughtful government schemes go unnoticed, or we don't bother to register for them. Ideally, we should take the time; after all, you never know when it will come in handy.

Here's to a new chapter filled with good times and some very welcome privileges!
