NSE Nifty gained 35.30 points to close at 5594.
BSE Sensex added 127.75 points to end the day at 18542.20.
Infosys covered most of the ground it lost last week to close at 2916, up 3.53 per cent. DLF surged 4.83 per cent to close at 246.80. Tata Motors flared up to 278.15, up 3.81 per cent on the back of good sales numbers reported by JLR. ICICI Bank climbed 3.46 per cent to end the day at 1040. Cipla gained almost 2 per cent and witnessed high volume.
On the losing side Bharti Airtel closed 2.7 per cent lower at 274. Other prominent losers included Tata Steel, HDFC, Reliance Industries, Bajaj Auto & Grasim - all lower by between 1.5 percent & 2 per cent.
European Markets were trading in positive territory and Dow futures were up 19 points at 4 pm IST.
