Juniper Green Energy IPO opens with Day 1 subscription updates.
Share

Juniper Green Energy's ₹1,800 crore IPO opened with a muted Day 1 subscription of around 0.05x, led by retail investors. Despite the slow start, a strong ₹539.4 crore anchor book and the company's renewable energy portfolio have kept long-term investor sentiment positive.

Juniper Green Energy opened its IPO for subscription on July 30, 2026. Incorporated in 2011, the New Delhi-based company is one of India's leading renewable energy independent power producers, developing, building, and operating utility-scale solar, wind, hybrid, and battery energy storage projects. It ranks among the top 10 renewable IPPs in the country, with a diversified portfolio of 7,910.20 MW across 50 projects as of June 2026, and sells power mainly under long-term agreements to central and state government-backed entities like MSEDCL, GUVNL, SECI, and SJVN.

This is a 100% fresh issue worth ₹1,800 crore. There's no offer for sale here, so the entire amount raised goes into the company, with proceeds earmarked for debt repayment, investment in material subsidiaries to reduce their debt, and general corporate purposes.

Price band is set at ₹214 to ₹225 per share. Lot size is 66 shares, so retail investors need ₹14,850 to apply at the upper end (up to 13 lots for retail, capped at ₹1,93,050). The issue closes August 3, and listing is expected August 6 on both BSE and NSE.

Juniper Green Energy IPO - Day 1 Subscription Status

Live Subscription Data (Update in Real Time): Category-wise Breakdown on Day 1

Day 1 has seen a muted start, which is fairly common for large renewable-energy issues where institutional bids tend to come in late.

CategorySubscription (Day 1)
Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIB)Under 1%
Non-Institutional Investors (NII)3% (0.03x)
Retail Individual Investors (RII)8% (0.08x)
OverallOver 5% (0.05x)
Figures as of 1:00 PM, July 30, 2026. These change through the day and will be updated as fresh bids come in.

What Day 1 Numbers Indicate

Retail is ahead of the pack at 0.08x, though still a long way from full subscription. NII is trailing further at 0.03x, and QIB bids have barely registered so far.

This slow start isn't unusual. The issue already pulled in ₹539.4 crore from anchor investors a day before opening, with names like Whiteoak Capital MF, Nippon Life MF, ICICI Prudential MF, SBI MF, Mirae Asset MF, HSBC MF, DSP MF, Motilal Oswal MF, and BNP Paribas Funds all participating. That anchor interest suggests the underlying business has institutional backing, even if public retail and NII bids are still trickling in on day one.

Overall subscription of roughly 0.05x means the issue is currently well undersubscribed. Institutional investors and big HNIs typically wait until the closing day or two to place the bulk of their bids, so this is standard behaviour rather than a red flag at this stage.

With a four-day bidding window this time, expect the sharpest movement in QIB and NII numbers to show up only in the final one or two days, closer to August 3.

Should You Apply for Juniper Green Energy IPO?

A few things worth weighing before you decide:

  • It's a 100% fresh issue, so the full ₹1,800 crore raised goes toward reducing debt and funding growth, not toward an exit for existing shareholders.
  • QIB gets the largest allocation at 50%, NII gets 15%, and retail gets the remaining 35%, a fairly standard split for a mainboard issue of this size.
  • FY26 revenue came in at ₹804.93 crore, up 41% year-on-year, with profit after tax at ₹40.46 crore, up from ₹36.48 crore the year before.
  • Grey market premium is running around ₹12 to ₹15.5 depending on the source and time of day, suggesting a listing gain of roughly 5% to 7%. GMP is unofficial and can shift quickly, so don't treat it as a guarantee.
  • Analysts covering the issue have broadly leaned toward a "Subscribe" rating for the long term, citing the company's diversified project portfolio and strong revenue visibility from long-term power purchase agreements with government-backed entities.

Conclusion

Juniper Green Energy's IPO has opened on a slow note, with Day 1 overall subscription tracking at around 0.05x. Retail is leading, but every category remains far from full subscription this early on. That said, the strong ₹539.4 crore anchor round backed by several marquee mutual funds, along with solid FY26 growth and a broadly positive analyst view, suggest there's real underlying interest that could show up more visibly in QIB and NII numbers as the August 3 close approaches.
