IPO subscriptions tell you how badly investors wanted it. After listing, quarterly results show what they actually bought.
August 2026 is a good example.
According to Mint’s analysis of Prime Database data, 18 IPOs opened at an average of 28% above their offer prices. Retail subscription averaged almost 33 times, compared with under 12 times between January and July.
That is a packed stadium.
Once trading begins, however, every company starts playing its own match.
NSE India’s January 2026 Market Pulse examined the ten biggest listing-day gainers of 2025, and by year-end, their returns after listing ranged from -17% to +161%.
After listing, investors start getting fresh evidence that subscription numbers cannot provide:
→ Is revenue growth tracking the investment case?
→ Are margins developing as expected?
→ Are losses narrowing where relevant?
→ Is cash generation getting stronger?
→ Is management delivering against the strategy, use of proceeds, and priorities described before listing?
2025 IPO performance showed the same pattern. Strong performers were evident across issue sizes, while Business Standard, citing FundBezzie (100% Subsidiary of Pantomath Group), highlighted earnings visibility, scalable business models, and governance as common differentiators.
A prospectus gives investors the plan, and every quarterly result adds evidence.
A full stadium can make the opening exciting. The score still has to be earned, quarter by quarter.
