Share

Summary:

Adani Enterprises reported Q2FY27 consolidated net profit attributable to owners of ₹1,492 crore, down 55% year on year, despite 74% growth in total income. Higher EBITDA and stronger copper and airport performance supported operating growth, while prior-year exceptional gains affected comparisons.

Adani Enterprises reported a 55% YoY decline in consolidated net profit attributable to shareholders to ₹1,492 crore in Q2FY27, compared with ₹3,304 crore in Q2FY26. Despite the sharp fall in reported profit, total income surged 74% to ₹38,023 crore, supported by growth in its copper, airports and infrastructure businesses.

Why Did Adani Enterprises' Q2 Profit Fall 55%?

The decline in net profit was largely due to a high base in the corresponding quarter last year. In Q2FY26, the company recorded an exceptional gain of ₹3,583 crore, primarily from the sale of its remaining stake in AWL Agri Business.

The absence of this one-time gain in Q2FY27 made the reported profit comparison significantly weaker.

However, underlying operating performance improved considerably. Profit before tax from continuing operations jumped 146% YoY to ₹2,002 crore from ₹814 crore.

This indicates that the sharp fall in reported net profit does not fully reflect the growth in the company's operating businesses.

Q2FY27 Financial Performance: EBITDA Jumps 62%

Adani Enterprises reported strong growth in total income and EBITDA during the September quarter.

Financial metricQ2FY27Q2FY26YoY change
Total income₹38,023 crore₹21,844 crore+74%
EBITDA₹6,316 crore₹3,902 crore+62%
Continuing PBT₹2,002 crore₹814 crore+146%
Net profit attributable to owners₹1,492 crore₹3,304 crore-55%

For H1FY27, the company reported its highest-ever half-yearly EBITDA of ₹11,958 crore, up 56% YoY.

However, profit attributable to shareholders declined 92% to ₹332 crore, affected by a ₹2,644 crore settlement charge relating to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control during Q1FY27.

Excluding this exceptional charge, continuing profit before tax for H1FY27 increased 45% to ₹3,297 crore.

Copper, Airports and Solar Businesses Drive Growth

The Mundra copper smelter emerged as a major contributor to earnings growth.

The copper business recorded ₹1,038 crore in segment profit before interest and tax, compared with a loss of ₹278 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The airports business also delivered stronger operating performance, with EBITDA increasing 55% YoY to ₹1,641 crore.

Meanwhile, the company's solar module manufacturing capacity reached 10 GW following the commissioning of an additional 4.3 GW capacity in September 2026.

Solar module sales increased 35% YoY to 1,478 MW during Q2FY27.

These developments contributed to earnings growth across several businesses, although higher depreciation continued to affect airport profitability.

Why Did Adani Enterprises Shares Rise After Q2 Results?

Adani Enterprises shares declined 0.41% on October 28, 2026, closing at ₹2,479.80 on the NSE.

However, the stock recovered in the following session. On October 29, shares were trading at ₹2,542.10, up 2.51%, as of 10:14 AM IST.’

The recovery coincided with the market assessing stronger EBITDA growth and operating performance despite the decline in reported net profit. The available data does not establish a single cause for the rise.

Conclusion

Adani Enterprises' Q2FY27 results present a mixed picture. Reported net profit fell sharply due to the previous year's exceptional gain, while underlying operating earnings improved.

The sustainability of copper profitability, airport earnings and returns from expanding infrastructure businesses will remain important factors in the coming quarters.
