Summary:
NPS Central is a unified digital platform launched by PFRDA on October 1, 2026. It brings services from Protean, KFintech and CAMS together, helping subscribers view investments, make contributions, download statements and manage pension accounts through one interface..
Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has launched NPS Central, a single digital platform to manage pension accounts. The portal, launched on 1 October 2026, will allow National Pension System (NPS) subscribers to access investments, make contributions and manage accounts through a single interface, thus reducing the need to visit multiple websites.
What Is NPS Central? How Does NPS Central Work?
NPS Central, www.npscentral.in, is a platform that consolidates services of three Central Recordkeeping Agencies (CRAs), Protean, KFintech and CAMS.
Earlier, subscribers had to visit different portals to check their account statement, contributions and other pension-related services.
The new platform provides a single dashboard that shows all the accounts held across the three agencies. The underlying databases are independent but subscribers can access information through a common interface.
This is especially useful for employees who change jobs, handle multiple pension accounts or check contributions made by different employers.
How can current subscribers of NPS access the new portal?
Existing Subscribers can login without remembering their Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN).
The process is simple:
- Go to the official NPS Central website.
- Input your registered mobile number and date of birth.
- OTP verification done.
- Login to the dashboard to check the investments and account information.
After login subscribers can make contributions, compare pension schemes, download statements, update eligible personal details and track transactions.
For new investors, digital onboarding facilities such as Central KYC and DigiLocker verification will be available. The platform also offers AI enabled guidance, pension fund comparison and electronic PRAN issuance.
NPS assets breach ₹17.46 lakh crore
The launch comes as India’s pension investment base keeps growing.
According to the PFRDA, as of October 18, 2023, the NPS had about 2.35 crore subscribers and assets under management (AUM) of ₹17,46,719 crore.
| NPS Indicator | Most Recent Value |
| Total subscribers | ~23.5m |
| Assets under management | ₹17,46,719 crore |
| Central Recordkeeping Agencies | 3 |
| Date of portal launch | 1 October 2026 |

As the subscriber base grows, easier digital access becomes even more important, especially for investors managing retirement savings over many decades.
What else is there?
PFRDA is looking to move beyond just account management on the platform.
The proposed services include investment allocation changes, switching of pension funds, Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) mandates, loans against NPS, corporate onboarding and Tier II account services.
Integration with NPS Vatsalya is also on the cards.
The portal already has access to NPS Swasthya with a dedicated investment corpus as well as a health insurance arrangement.
The improvements are coming in phases, and many of the proposed features don’t have a confirmed launch date.
So what does this mean for NPS investors?
NPS Central is more about convenience as opposed to changing the way returns are earned on pension investments.
Members can view their retirement savings, compare investment options and monitor contributions, all in one place. But investment performance will continue to be driven by asset allocation, market conditions, fund performance and applicable pension rules.
It could also reduce the administrative burden for employees who switch organizations or have long-term retirement accounts.
The biggest benefit for investors is easier access to information about pensions. However, the wider impact will depend on the reliability of the portal and the successful introduction of additional services.
