BEL shares fell 3.6% after its Q1 FY27 results, as investors reacted to lower-than-expected EBITDA margins despite strong revenue and profit growth. While the margin miss weighed on sentiment, the company's robust order book and favourable long-term defence outlook continue to support its growth prospects.
Stocks of Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) fell on Tuesday after the company reported its Q1FY27 financial results. The stock fell by 3.6% in the early hours of trading and was quoted at ₹395 on the NSE at 9:56 am. The stock hit an intraday low of ₹392.10 against the last closing price of ₹407.15.
The fall in the stock price came even as the company saw robust year-over-year growth in revenues and profits, as investors were disappointed with its operating margin performance in the quarter. But the robust order book and growth outlook of the company kept the optimistic mood going for the company.
BEL Q1FY27 Financial Performance
Bharat Electronics reported PAT of ₹1,048.33 crore for Q1 FY27, marking an 8% growth when compared to ₹969.13 crore recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Revenues for the quarter were ₹5,533.06 crore, up by 25.2% from ₹4,416.83 crore in Q1 FY26. The revenues for the quarter beat market expectations, which had pegged it at ₹5,086 crore.
Bharat Electronics reported EBITDA of ₹1,389.2 crore for Q1 FY27 as compared to the market expectation of ₹1,417 crore. The EBITDA margin for the quarter was 25.1%, lower than the market expectation of 27.86%.
Why BEL Shares Fell After Q1 Results?
BEL’s stock price fell post Q1FY27 earnings mostly because of a margin miss. Although there was good revenue growth, the underwhelming EBITDA margin and operating profit margin performance have caused concern among investors.
The stock fell 2.49% to ₹397 per share at 9:22 am, reaching an intraday fall of 3.34%. The underperformance on the margin front triggered profit taking in the stock amid a healthy performance of the company on the top and bottom lines.
Long-Term Growth Outlook Remains Positive
Even in light of the immediate concerns, the outlook for BEL remains bullish based on its robust order backlog and rising defence budgets in India.
The growing demand for defence electronics, radars, communications equipment, and other critical products will benefit the company going forward. The efforts of the Indian government towards the modernization of its defence sector and increased domestic purchases should help in the future growth of BEL.
Market players have remained bullish on BEL’s fundamentals based on its ability to execute projects, solid financials, and continued order flows.
BEL Stock Performance: Key Takeaways
BEL generated an impressive 25.2% rise in revenues and 8% growth in PAT in Q1FY27. Yet, the dip in EBITDA margin against expectations caused a short-term negative impact on the share price.
The healthy order book and optimistic defence sector scenario continue to be positive factors for the company. Despite the margin dip in Q1FY27 affecting investor sentiment, the growth story is intact due to rising defense spending and indigenous defense technologies demand.
