On Friday, October 10, Indian equity benchmark indices ended higher, with gains of nearly 0.5%. The Nifty opened on a positive note and as the day progressed the benchmarks steadily gained, closing the session near the day’s high.

At the close, the Nifty 50 rose 103.55 points, or 0.41%, to settle at 25,285.35, while the Sensex gained 328.72 points, or 0.40%, ending at 82,500.82. 

India's benchmark Nifty 50 and Sensex ended up 1.57% this week, marking gains for the second consecutive week. Inflows from FIIs and optimism ahead of earnings season drove markets higher.

On the sectoral front 9 out of 11 sectors closed in positive territory. The Nifty Realty index emerged as the top performer, with most constituents finishing in the green. The Nifty IT index declined marginally by 0.05%, after TCS announced its Q2FY26 results yesterday. Nifty Metals closed down by 0.91%, retreating from previous session's gains that were driven by supply concerns.

Meanwhile, broader markets outperformed, with both the Nifty Midcap and Nifty Smallcap indices closing on a strong note.

Stock-Specific Highlights

Among individual stocks,

  • Tata Elxsi share price declined by nearly 3% after weak Q2 earnings.
  • Auto parts maker Sona BLW share price jumped 4.4% to its intraday high, after signing a deal with Germany-based NEURA Robotics for joint development of robots and humanoids in domestic and international markets. It closed 0.78% higher from its previous close.

Nifty Realty & Nifty PSU Bank - Top Gaining Sector

The Nifty Realty index surged by 1.67%, with 9 out of 10 constituents ending in positive territory. Nifty PSU Bank also surged by 1.67% tying with the Realty index. The PSU Banking index hit a new 52-week high with highest intraday gains of October. On the flip side, the Nifty Metal index declined by 0.91%.

Nifty 50: Top Pullers and Draggers of the Day

The key drivers of the index gains were:

  • State Bank of India: +17.32 points
  • HDFC Bank: +14.48 points
  • Axis Bank: +9.43 points

Broader Markets Ended Positive

The broader market indices ended on a positive note on Friday. The Mid-cap 100 index ended up by 0.46% and the Small-cap 100 closed up by 0.74%. 

Market Breadth

As of October 10, 2025, the market breadth was in favour of advancing stocks. Out of 3,174 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,905 advanced, 1,177 declined, and 92 remained unchanged.
