About SJVN Limited

 

SJVN Limited is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise and a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh, headquartered in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). The company develops, owns and operates power projects across hydro, solar and wind, with thermal and transmission projects under development. Its offerings also include power trading (Category-1 licence) and consultancy services covering engineering, construction management and related advisory for power plants. As of March 31, 2025, SJVN had five subsidiaries within the group structure.

 

SJVN’s operating footprint spans multiple Indian states—led by Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand for hydropower—along with projects in Arunachal Pradesh and a growing renewable presence, and extends cross‑border to Nepal where major hydro projects are under construction and pre‑construction. Key hydro stations in operation include Nathpa Jhakri HPS (1,500 MW), Rampur HPS (412 MW) and Naitwar Mori HPS (60 MW). The company also executes and plans transmission lines, with 2 lines (123 km) operational and 1 line (217 km) under construction. In FY 2024-25, SJVN traded 147.41 Million Units of power under its Category‑1 trading licence, underscoring its diversified role in the power value chain.
