Gujarat State Petronet Limited (GSPL) is a gas transmission company operating Gujarat’s Statewide Gas Grid built on an open-access principle. Recognised for over two decades of expertise and described in the report as India’s first pure gas transmission company, GSPL ensures reliable movement of natural gas across the state, connecting all major sources and enabling a gas-based economy in Gujarat’s industrial ecosystem.
The company operates a pipeline grid of approximately 2,795 kms as on March 31, 2025, with gas flowing from Mundra, Hazira, Dahej and Vapi to industries and City Gas Distribution (CGD) networks across key districts including Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Kutch, Valsad and others. GSPL’s network also benefits from connectivity to all four operational LNG terminals in Gujarat, giving customers optionality of supply sources.
Beyond pipelines, GSPL operates a 52.5 MW wind power project at locations in Rajkot and Porbandar districts, selling 8,65,25,354 KWH of electricity during the year. As per the Companies Act, GSPL has three subsidiaries; it also has interests in joint ventures and associates within the broader GSPC Group . Milestones highlighted for the latest year include transporting 11,032 MMSCM of gas, and GSPL’s share amounted to over 15% of India’s total gas volumes consumed in FY 2024-25, underlining its national relevance even as its operations are rooted in Gujarat.
Network expansion and new connections: GSPL completed source connectivity to the Chhara LNG terminal (Gir Somnath) and four CGD connections in Ahmedabad, Anand and Patan; a customer connection in Silvassa was also completed .
PNGRB approvals: The Anjar–Palanpur pipeline project received approval from PNGRB in March 2025, part of over 650 kms of additional network development underway to support demand in Gujarat, Rajasthan and Northern India .
New project authorisation: GSPL received authorisation from PNGRB to develop the Anjar–Palanpur pipeline project in Gujarat, alongside projects such as the Jamnagar–Dwarka pipeline and other CGD connectivities under execution.
Operating performance: GSPL transported 11,032 MMSCM of gas during FY 2024-25 and continued to operate a statewide grid exceeding 2,700 kms, with sectoral volumes led by CGD and steady contributions from fertilisers and refinery & petrochemicals.
Rights issue: The company allotted 1,80,00,000 equity shares of Rs 10 each (aggregate Rs 18,00,00,000) on September 25, 2024, to existing shareholders on a rights basis.
Regulatory and tariff changes: GSPL invoices customers under the PNGRB’s Unified Tariff implemented from April 1, 2023; a tariff revision by PNGRB effective May 1, 2024 impacted transportation income and ratios during the year.
Asset transfer: On March 18, 2025, the Board approved transfer of the Centre of Excellence to Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration for a consideration of Rs 2,700 Lakh; the related assets were classified as held for sale.
Scheme process: Observation letters from BSE (February 4, 2025) and NSE (February 5, 2025) enabled filing of a Composite Scheme with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on February 12, 2025.
