Berger Paints India Limited is a century-old paints and coatings leader with roots dating back to 1924. The company positions itself as India’s second-largest paint maker, the fourth-largest in Asia, the seventh-largest decorative paints company globally, and the 15th-largest paint company worldwide, with a market share of approximately 20% among listed peers.
Its footprint extends beyond India, with operations in Poland, Russia and Nepal, and six active joint ventures, partnerships and associations supporting technology and market reach. In February 2025, Berger inaugurated a new headquarters in New Town, Kolkata, marking its 100-year journey with an on-site museum that chronicles its legacy and product innovation.
Berger’s core portfolio spans three pillars: decorative paints, industrial coatings, and construction chemicals.
The decorative business includes premium interior and exterior emulsions, textures and designer finishes, complemented by value-added services such as Express Painting, colour consultation and digital shade previews to enhance the customer experience. The company’s innovation pipeline in FY 2024–25 featured launches such as Tank Cool, Roof Cool & Seal and Easy Clean Silky Touch; the GlamArt Italian Collection in ultra-luxury décor; “Advanced” and “Platina” ranges; Silk Acrylic Putty; and Neo Shakti in the latex-based segment.
In industrial, Berger is a longstanding leader in protective and infrastructure coatings (Protecton), serving demanding applications across oil refineries, power plants, railway coaches, bridges and industrial flooring . Its joint venture Berger Becker Coatings supplies premium coil coatings for domestic appliances, while Berger Rock Paints provides cost-competitive auto refinish solutions—together broadening Berger’s coverage of OEM and aftermarket niches . The construction chemicals vertical (including subsidiary STP Limited) offers waterproofing, advanced flooring, sealants, adhesives and protective anti-corrosive systems for large-scale projects nationwide.
The company’s pan-India presence includes nearly 59,000 touchpoints, 15 domestic paint manufacturing units (Berger and British Paints divisions) across 12 locations, and 196 warehouses and offices; globally, Berger counts 29 manufacturing facilities including subsidiaries and joint ventures, with operations in Nepal, Poland and Russia . Upcoming state-of-the-art units at Panagarh (West Bengal) and Khordha (Odisha) underscore its capacity expansion agenda. The company’s digital initiatives include the MyColour app, Salesforce rollouts and AI-led logistics systems to enhance engagement and efficiency.
