Holding Steady, Staying Ready

Kudos to the RBI Governor and his team for the clarity of vision they have demonstrated in the first monetary policy of FY2026-27, amidst these rather befuddling times!

While maintaining a firmly neutral stance (read: no panic), they have retained the flexibility to respond to evolving conditions. They also highlighted that India’s economic fundamentals are stronger today than in many past episodes and relative to several global peers.

The message is balanced. Risks remain—geopolitical tensions and global uncertainties—but they could be mitigated/offset by continued strength in services, stable financial and corporate balance sheets, a supportive agriculture outlook and steady policy direction.

All in all, a clear-headed view of both strengths and vulnerabilities, which is reassuring in its composure and encouraging in its confidence.

Sometimes, approaching uncertainty from a position of strength is half the battle won.
