Toyota Glanza Vs Maruti Suzuki Baleno

The Glanza is based on the same platform and powertrain as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and is made by Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (NSE: MARUTI | BSE: 532500).

Maruti launched the updated Baleno in September 2026 at a starting price of ₹6.10 lakh. Its starting price after launch was ₹5.99 lakh as opposed to the Glanza's ₹6.99 lakh.

This means that the starting price of the two models is different by ₹1 lakh.

Both the cars are competing against Hyundai i20 and Tata Altroz in the premium hatchback segment. Pricing, availability of equipment, service networks and ownership costs will affect consumer tastes.

How Are Toyota’s Sales Doing And What’s Next?

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold a total of 28,218 units in September 2026 which includes 25,027 units in the domestic market and 3,191 units in exports.

Sales during January-September 2026 stood at 2,94,914 units, up 8% YoY. Domestic sales increased by 9% to 2,69,619 units while exports fell 2% to 25,295 units.

The updated Glanza expands Toyota’s portfolio in the hatchback segment at a time when customers are more inclined toward safety technology, fuel efficiency and convenience features.

Its sales will depend on customer acceptance of the new equipment, the price of the car relative to competing models and demand for the automatic CNG versions.
