Infosys share price surge after Anthropic AI partnership announcement
Share

Indian IT stocks are in the spotlight on February 17, 2026, as the Nifty IT index emerges as the top performer in the first half of the trading session, up by 1.8%. The strong rally is largely driven by Infosys, whose share price has surged nearly 3%.

Why is Infosys Share Price Rallying?

Infosys has garnered significant market attention on February 17, thanks to its announcement of a strategic collaboration with Anthropic, a leading AI safety and research company. This partnership is set to drive the development and delivery of advanced AI solutions tailored for enterprise applications in industries such as telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, and software development.

Infosys and Anthropic Collaboration: Unlocking AI Potential Across Regulated Industries

The collaboration between Infosys and Anthropic will initially focus on the telecommunications sector, where a dedicated Anthropic Center of Excellence will be established to develop and deploy AI agents tailored to the industry's specific needs. Over time, the partnership is expected to expand into financial services, manufacturing, and software development.

At the heart of this collaboration are Anthropic's Claude models, including Claude Code, which will be integrated with Infosys’ Topaz AI offerings. This combined approach will empower enterprises to automate complex workflows, accelerate software delivery, and implement AI with the governance and transparency required by regulated industries. The overarching goal of this partnership is not merely to enhance efficiency but to deliver true transformational value through AI.

Reimagining Enterprise Operations

By combining Anthropic's cutting-edge AI models with Infosys' deep industry expertise and engineering capabilities, this partnership aims to revolutionise enterprise operations. A key focus will be on developing agentic AI—AI systems capable of independently executing multi-step tasks such as processing claims, generating code, or managing compliance reviews. These agents will go beyond answering questions and will be designed to work persistently across long, complex processes.

Using tools like the Claude Agent SDK, Infosys and Anthropic aim to help clients build AI agents that can handle intricate tasks over extended periods, making them more effective than one-off interactions. This collaboration will also facilitate the modernisation of legacy systems, enabling enterprises to reduce the costs of updating their infrastructure by integrating Infosys Topaz with Claude.

AI Agents for Industry-Specific Functions

The collaboration will deliver tailored AI agents for various industries and business functions, including:

  • Telecommunications: AI agents will assist carriers in modernizing network operations, streamlining customer lifecycle management, and improving service delivery. This will bring intelligent automation to one of the most operationally complex and regulated industries.
  • Financial Services: In this sector, AI agents will help firms accelerate risk detection, automate compliance reporting, and provide more personalised customer interactions. For example, financial advice can be tailored based on a client’s complete account history and prevailing market conditions.
  • Manufacturing and Engineering: In this area, Claude’s capabilities will help reduce R&D timelines by accelerating product design and simulation, enabling engineers to test more iterations before production.
  • Software Development: Claude Code will be used by development teams to write, test, and debug code, enabling faster transitions from design to production. Infosys is already deploying Claude Code within its Exponential Engineering organization, building internal expertise and best practices that will be applied to client engagements.

Words from Anthropic's CEO

Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-Founder of Anthropic, expressed his thoughts on the collaboration, stating, “There’s a significant gap between an AI model that works in a demo and one that is suitable for use in regulated industries. To bridge this gap, domain expertise is essential. Infosys brings that expertise across critical industries such as telecom, financial services, and manufacturing. Their developers are already using Claude Code to accelerate their work and create AI agents tailored to industries where precision, compliance, and deep domain knowledge are paramount.”
