On Tuesday, December 23, Indian stock market benchmarks ended flat, trimming early gains, led by loss in IT stocks, as the absence of fresh triggers and thin year-end trading volumes weighed on sentiment.
Trading activity stayed subdued, as lower volumes, typical of the year-end holiday period, continued to keep market movements muted.

The Nifty 50 closed marginally higher by 4.75 points, or 0.02%, at 26,177.15, while the Sensex slipped 42.63 points, or 0.05%, to settle at 85,524.84.
The Nifty IT index declined 0.8% on Tuesday, giving up part of the gains recorded over the previous four sessions. The index had risen more than 4% recently, supported by a weaker rupee and growing expectations of further interest rate cuts in the United States in 2026.
