On Thursday, November 13, Indian equity benchmarks were off from the day’s high but managed to close in the green, extending their winning streak for the fourth consecutive session. The benchmark indices were supported by optimism over the US government reopening and improved earnings.

At the close, the Nifty 50 ended marginally up by 3.35 points or 0.01% at 25,879.15, while the Sensex gained 12.16 points or 0.01% to close at 84,478.67. Both benchmark indices are now about 1.5% below their record highs. India’s volatility index, India VIX, remained steady.

President Trump signed legislation ending the longest US government shutdown, clearing uncertainty around US economic data and firming bets on a December rate cut.

On the sectoral front, five of the eleven key indices ended in positive territory. The Nifty IT Index, which includes major IT companies, fell 0.48%, snapping a three-day winning streak. Meanwhile, Realty, Metal, Financial Services, Banking, and Pharma were among the gainers.

Broader markets were against the frontline indices, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 indices ended lower.

Stock-Specific Highlights

Among individual stocks,

  • Asian Paints’ share price jumped nearly 4% on Thursday, extending its 4% rally from Wednesday, after the company reported a strong 43% year-on-year rise in profit.
  • Ashok Leyland share price climbed 5.5% on better-than-expected Q2 profit.

Groww’s IPO: Billionbrains Garage Ventures Extends Gains

Broker Groww's parent Billionbrains Garage Ventures listed at a premium of 12% in its trading debut yesterday. On Thursday, the share price of the company surged by nearly 5%.

Nifty Metal - Top Gainer

The Nifty Metal Index was the top gainer on Thursday, ending higher by 0.44%. The Nifty Pharma Index followed with a 0.41% rise, with 10 of 19 constituents closing higher. On the flip side, the Nifty PSU Bank Index declined 0.68%. 

Nifty 50: Top Pullers and Draggers of the Day

The key drivers of the index gains were:

  • ICICI Bank: +41.23 points
  • Larsen & Toubro: +12.91 points
  • Bharti Airtel: +11.41 points

On the other hand, these stocks dragged the index:

  • Eternal: -17.31 points
  • HDFC Bank: -12.49 points
  • Mahindra & Mahindra: -10.61 points

Broader Markets End Negative

The broader market indices showed negative performance on Thursday. The Nifty Midcap 100 index dropped by 0.35%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended down by 0.37%. 

Market Breadth

As of November 13, 2025, the market breadth was in favour of declining stocks. Out of 3,187 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,367 advanced, 1,732 declined, and 88 remained unchanged. 

A total of 71 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 96 hit their 52-week lows. Additionally, 95 stocks were locked in their upper circuits, whereas 62 stocks were in lower circuits.
