On Wednesday, November 12, the Indian equity benchmark closed higher, extending the winning streak for the third consecutive session. The benchmark indices were led by gains in Reliance Industries and information technology stocks, which gained on signs of progress in US-India trade talks and hopes of an end to the prolonged US government shutdown.
At the close, the Nifty 50 ended up by 180.85 points or 0.70% at 25,875.80, while the Sensex gained 595.19 points or 0.71% to close at 84,466.51. Both benchmark indices are now about 1.5% below their record highs. India’s volatility index, India VIX, declined by 3%.
On the sectoral front, 9 out of 11 key sectoral indices ended in positive territory. The Nifty IT Index, comprising information technology companies that earn a significant share of their revenue from the US, advanced over 2% after gaining 2.8% in the past two trading sessions.
Broader markets outperformed frontline indices, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 index ending higher.

The Nifty IT index was the top-gaining sector on Wednesday, extending its rally for the third straight session, and ended higher by 2.04%. Following this Nifty Auto index jumped by 1.24%, with 10 out of 15 constituents ending in positive territory. On the flip side, the Nifty Realty index declined by 0.49%.

The broader market indices showed positive performance on Wednesday. The Nifty Midcap 100 index jumped by 0.79%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended up by 0.82%.
As of November 12, 2025, the market breadth was in favour of advancing stocks. Out of 3,200 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,927 advanced, 1,178 declined, and 80 remained unchanged.
A total of 81 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 85 hit their 52-week lows. Additionally, 98 stocks were locked in their upper circuits, whereas 57 stocks were in lower circuits.
