In a major boost to India's renewable energy sector, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited (Tata Power) and Suzlon Group have announced a significant collaboration to co-develop 838 megawatts (MW) of wind energy projects across three states. The deal marks Suzlon's largest order for the fiscal year 2026 and its second-largest ever, underscoring the growing momentum of "Made in India" solutions in the nation's energy transition.
Under the agreement, Suzlon, India's leading wind energy solutions provider, will supply TPREL with 266 of its S144 wind turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3.15 MW. Suzlon will also provide a comprehensive end-to-end solution for the projects, leveraging its extensive expertise. The projects will be strategically located across Karnataka (302 MW), Maharashtra (271 MW), and Tamil Nadu (265 MW).
This initiative is part of the Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) bids awarded to SJVN and NTPC, highlighting a strategic move towards ensuring round-the-clock, grid-stable clean power. FDRE wind-dominant systems are emerging as a key solution to help India meet its ambitious target of 500 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.
This is the third strategic collaboration between the two Indian pioneers, continuing a partnership that has spanned over a decade. The repeat orders signify TPREL's confidence in Suzlon's technology, reliability, and execution excellence.
For TPREL, a subsidiary of The Tata Power Company Limited, this partnership reinforces its leadership in India's green energy landscape. The collaboration supports Tata Power's overarching goal of achieving Net Zero by 2045. The company currently has a diversified power portfolio of 15.8 GW, with 44% (7.0 GW) of its capacity coming from clean energy sources. TPREL's existing wind energy portfolio stands at over 3.9 GW.
