Zomato Limited has received approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) to change its corporate name to Eternal Limited. The name change took effect on March 20, 2025.
The company's shareholders had earlier passed a special resolution approving the renaming of the corporate entity. The Registrar of Companies formally recorded the change.
The new name reflects a diversified business structure
The decision to rebrand follows Zomato's expansion into multiple sectors. Eternal will now represent four distinct businesses: Zomato (food delivery), Blinkit (quick commerce), Hyperpure (B2B supplies), and District (dining out and restaurant services).
The company stated that the corporate name change will not affect the Zomato brand or app used for food delivery. Customers will continue to interact with the Zomato brand across platforms.
The stock ticker and website also updated
As part of the rebranding, the company's stock symbol has changed from "Zomato" to "Eternal" on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
Additionally, the corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. The change applies only to the corporate entity and does not influence the consumer-facing brands.
Background to the rebranding
Zomato's founder and CEO had previously explained the rationale behind the name change. The term "Eternal" has been used internally since the acquisition of Blinkit to distinguish between the corporate structure and the food delivery brand.
With Blinkit becoming a significant growth driver, the leadership team decided that it was the right time to rename the company to better reflect its evolving business model.
Zomato brand and app remain unchanged
The company clarified that the rebranding applies only to the corporate name. The Zomato app and services under the Zomato brand will continue without any changes.
This move aims to help differentiate the overarching corporate entity from its individual business verticals.
Trading update and future outlook
At 12:15 PM on Wednesday, the shares of Eternal were trading at ₹210.39 per share on the NSE. Eternal Limited now operates with four distinct businesses. Zomato will continue its focus on food delivery. Blinkit will drive growth in the quick commerce segment.
Hyperpure will serve restaurant partners through B2B food supply services. The district will focus on improving dining-out experiences through digital and operational support to restaurants.
The rebranding is part of the company's strategic restructuring as it evolves into a multi-vertical business group.
