Why HDFC Bank share price is increasing today

HDFC Bank shares rose over 1% after announcing a board meeting on July 19, 2025, to consider Q1FY26 results, a special interim dividend for FY26, and a possible first-ever bonus issue.

The BSE Sensex slipped 0.1% to settle at 82,459, while the NSE Nifty 50 also edged lower by 0.1% to 25,154. Broader market weakness followed a rise in U.S. inflation data, although losses were partially cushioned by gains in HDFC Bank, the leading private sector lender.

Index heavyweight HDFC Bank stock was the top gainer on the benchmark Nifty 50 index at the market open.

HDFC Bank Shares Rise on Dividend and First-Ever Bonus Issue Plans

HDFC Bank shares rose over 1% on Wednesday after the private sector lender announced that its board will consider a special interim dividend and a potential bonus issue along with its Q1FY26 results later this week. The stock gained as much as 1.33% to ₹2,021.90 apiece on the BSE.

HDFC Bank Board Meeting Scheduled for July 19

The bank’s board meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2025, to approve the unaudited standalone and consolidated financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. Alongside the earnings, the board will also review a proposal to declare a special interim dividend for FY26 and consider a bonus share issue, subject to shareholder approval, according to a regulatory filing dated July 16.

HDFC Bank Dividend History 

In terms of dividend history, HDFC Bank declared a dividend of ₹22 per share on June 27, 2025. Previous dividends include ₹19.50 per share in May 2024, ₹19 in May 2023, ₹15.50 in May 2022, and ₹6.50 in June 2021, based on BSE data.

On the performance front, the HDFC Bank’s share price has increased by over 4.57% in the past month, 6.90% in the last three months, and by more than 22.41% in six months. On a year-on-year basis, the stock is up 24.13%, with a five-year return of 91%.

At 10:32 AM, HDFC Bank shares were trading 0.72% higher at ₹2,009 on the BSE.
