Astra Microwave Products Limited has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.
The agreement marks a collaboration between two established players in India’s defence electronics ecosystem, with a focus on strengthening indigenous design and manufacturing capabilities in critical technology areas.
As per the disclosure, the MoU is aimed at joint efforts in the design, development and manufacturing of advanced electronic modules, subsystems and systems for defence electronics and aerospace applications. Key technology domains identified under the agreement include Electronic Warfare (EW), radar systems and satellite platforms.
The partnership is aligned with the broader objective of enhancing domestic capabilities in strategically important defence technologies, an area where both entities have long operational experience.
The company clarified that the MoU does not involve any shareholding arrangement between the parties. There are no special rights such as board representation, preferential share subscription, or restrictions on capital structure embedded in the agreement.
Further, the transaction does not fall under related party transactions, and neither party is connected to the promoter or promoter group of the other, as per the regulatory disclosure.
Astra Microwave brings over three decades of experience in the radar, electronic warfare and strategic electronics domain. The company has been associated with India’s space programme for more than 25 years, during which it has contributed to 35 radar systems, 25 satellite programmes and 15 strategic programmes.
It is among the few private sector players in India with the capability to develop and supply GaN and GaAs MMIC products up to 40 GHz, a key requirement for high-performance defence and aerospace applications. The company is also participating in multiple MAKE-II programmes of the Indian Air Force and Indian Army for radar systems.
Following the disclosure, Astra Microwave shares were trading over 1% higher on December 26, 2025, reflecting positive investor response to the collaboration with BEL.
