Bharti Airtel Revenue Up 28.5%

Indian stock markets declined on Wednesday following the Reserve Bank of India's decision to maintain its key policy rate and continue with its existing monetary stance. As of 10:12 a.m. IST, the Nifty 50 had slipped 0.25% to 24,591.15, while the BSE Sensex was down 0.16% at 80,587.2.

Bharti Airtel Limited announced its audited consolidated financial results for the first quarter (Q1) ended June 30, 2025, on August 05, 2025. The company reported significant growth in revenues and profitability, driven by strong performance across its India and Africa operations.

Bharti Airtel Consolidated Performance 

For Q1 FY26, Bharti Airtel recorded consolidated revenues of ₹49,463 crore, marking a substantial 28.5% growth year-over-year (YoY) and 3.3% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ). The consolidated Net Income (before exceptional items) more than doubled on a YoY basis, reaching ₹5,948 crore compared to ₹2,925 crore in Q1 FY25. Consolidated EBITDA stood at ₹28,167 crore, reflecting a 41.2% increase YoY, with an EBITDA margin of 56.9%. Consolidated EBIT reached ₹15,621 crore, up 67.0% YoY, and the EBIT margin was 31.6%, an increase of 729 basis points YoY. 

The capex for the quarter was ₹8,307 crore. The overall customer base of Bharti Airtel spans 15 countries and stands at 605 million.

Bharti Airtel India Business Performance 

The India business delivered a robust performance, with quarterly revenues of ₹37,585 crore, up 29.0% YoY and 2.3% QoQ. The EBITDA for India business was ₹22,352 crore, growing by 43.4% YoY, and the EBITDA margin improved by 598 basis points YoY to 59.5%. The EBIT for the India business was ₹11,815 crore, an 80.1% YoY increase, with an EBIT margin of 31.4%, up by 891 basis points YoY. 

The India customer base reached 436 million, and Capex for the India business was ₹7,273 crore. India mobile services revenue grew 21.6% YoY, driven by improved Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) and continued smartphone customer additions. Mobile ARPU increased to ₹250 in Q1 FY26 from ₹211 in Q1 FY25. The company added 0.7 million postpaid net additions in Q1 FY26, bringing the total postpaid customer base to 26.6 million.

Smartphone data customers increased by 21.3 million YoY and 3.9 million QoQ, now accounting for 77% of the overall mobile customer base. Mobile data consumption was up 21.6% YoY, with consumption per customer at 26.9 GB per month. Bharti Airtel expanded its nationwide network by installing approximately 1.8K additional towers and 7.5K mobile broadband stations during the quarter. 

The Homes business showed strong momentum with a 25.7% YoY revenue increase, achieving an all-time high of 939K net customer additions in Q1 FY26, driven by growth in both Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) segments. The total Wi-Fi customer base reached 11.0 million, and approximately 1.6 million fibre home passes were added during the quarter. Digital TV revenues decreased by 1.8% YoY, with a customer base of 15.7 million. IPTV services, rolled out last quarter, gained traction, adding 0.65 million customers. Airtel Business revenues declined by 7.7% YoY, attributed to a strategic portfolio transformation to discontinue low-margin businesses, though underlying revenue performance remained steady.

The Africa business also contributed significantly, with revenue (in constant currency) up 24.9% YoY. The EBITDA margin in constant currency was 48.1%, up 292 basis points YoY, and the EBIT margin was 31.4%, up 244 basis points YoY. The Africa customer base reached 169 million, and Capex for the quarter was ₹1,034 crore.

After Q1FY26 results, the shares of Bharti Airtel were among the top gainers on the Nifty 50, rising 0.64%. The stock price jumped to the day's high of ₹1,964.80 per share, jumping over 1.7%.
