On Friday, November 14, Indian equity benchmarks recovered from the day's low and managed to close in the green, extending their winning streak for the fifth consecutive session. The benchmark indices were lifted by gains of the State Bank of India and Axis Bank.
At the close, the Nifty 50 ended up by 36 points or 0.14% at 25,915.15, while the Sensex gained 84.11 points or 0.10% to close at 84,562.78. Both benchmark indices are now about 1.4% below their record highs. India’s volatility index, India VIX, declined by nearly 2%.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to retain power in Bihar, boosting investor confidence and helping the markets recover from early losses.
On a weekly basis, the Nifty 50 ended its two-week losing streak with a weekly gain of 1.64%. The index posted a strong rebound over the week, with all five trading sessions closing in the green. As a result, the Nifty 50 index recorded its second-best weekly closing.
On the sectoral front, seven of the eleven key indices ended in positive territory. IT companies slip around 1% on fading hopes of a near-term US rate cut after hawkish comments from Fed officials on rate trajectory. The Nifty IT index gained 3.37% for the week. Meanwhile, PSU Bank, Pharma, FMCG, Financial Services, Banking, Energy, Media and Realty were among the gainers.
Broader markets outperformed frontline indices, with the Nifty Midcap 100 and the Nifty Smallcap 100 indices ending higher.

The Nifty PSU Bank Index was the top gainer on Friday, ending higher by 1.17%. The Nifty Pharma Index followed with a 0.59% rise, with 13 of 19 constituents closing higher. On the flip side, the Nifty IT Index declined 1.03%.

The broader market indices showed positive performance on Friday. The Nifty Midcap 100 index jumped by 0.08%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended up by 0.38%.
As of November 14, 2025, market breadth slightly favoured declining stocks. Out of 3,188 stocks traded on the NSE, 1,483 advanced, 1,623 declined, and 82 remained unchanged.
A total of 59 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 116 hit their 52-week lows. Additionally, 83 stocks were locked in their upper circuits, whereas 66 stocks were in lower circuits.
