MOIL Limited is a Schedule ‘A’ Miniratna Category-I, Government of India enterprise and the country’s largest manganese ore producer, with origins as Central Province Prospecting Syndicate in 1896 and later Central Provinces Manganese Ore Company Limited before Government takeover in 1962 and complete ownership from 1977 onwards. The company operates underground and opencast mines across Nagpur and Bhandara districts in Maharashtra and Balaghat district in Madhya Pradesh, producing high, medium, and blast-furnace grade manganese ore and dioxide ore used in ferro alloys, steel, chemicals, and dry battery cells. MOIL supplies around 46% of India’s dioxide ore requirements and also runs wind energy farms at Nagda Hills and Ratedi Hills in Madhya Pradesh in line with its sustainability focus. As on March 31, 2025, employee strength stood at 5,250, supporting mining, processing, and allied activities across its central Indian belt footprint. The company recorded its highest-ever performance in FY 2024-25, with revenue from operations of Rs 1,584.94 crore and total income of Rs 1,696.31 crore, driven by increased ore sales and strong steel-sector demand. Key milestones include designation in February 2024 as State Trading Enterprise for manganese ore exports, initiation of export e-bids, and revised Strategic Management Plan to reach 3.50 million tonnes production by 2030 leveraging a 121.97 million MT resource base.
Board and committee composition non-compliances during FY 2024-25 due to vacancies in Independent Directors, with partial compliances restored effective April 15, 2025; exchanges issued notices with penalties under review for waiver.
