JSW Energy Limited (JSW Energy) is the energy arm of the USD 23 billion JSW Group and has grown into a diversified independent power producer since commencing commercial operations in 2000. A landmark in its growth story, JSW Energy crossed 10 GW of installed capacity in FY 2025, ending the year at 10,875 MW as of March 31, 2025; the locked-in platform now stands at about 30 GW under its Strategy 3.0 roadmap, which targets 30 GW of generation and 40 GWh of energy storage by FY 2030. The company reported hydro plants at Karcham Wangtoo and Baspa II delivering 5,862 MU of net generation in FY 2025, reflecting steady operations across its renewable base. Capacity milestone: Installed capacity rose to 10,875 MW as of March 31, 2025, with the company achieving and surpassing its 10 GW goal during FY 2025.
Strategic acquisitions: Completed the acquisition of KSK Mahanadi Power Company Limited on March 6, 2025, through an NCLT-approved resolution plan; the O2 Power renewable platform (4.7 GW) was consummated in April 2025, with 1,343 MW operating capacity added at closing.
Organic execution: Commissioned 1.3 GW of organic wind capacity in FY 2025—around one-third of India’s wind addition that year; fully commissioned the 660 MW Unit 2 of the Barmer (Utkal) thermal plant and signed a PPA with WBSEDCL for a 1.6 GW greenfield supercritical project.
Portfolio additions: Acquired a 125 MW wind portfolio from the Hetero group (Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra) and a 45 MW operational wind project at Vashpet, Maharashtra, augmenting the renewable base with operational, revenue-generating assets from day one.
Growth capital: Raised Rs 5,000 crore via a Qualified Institutional Placement in April 2024 to fund value-accretive growth and strengthen the balance sheet.
