CSL is part of 100 year old Chowgule Group of companies from Goa India. The company is a private sector shipping company which presently owns and operates a fleet of vessels (including that of its wholly owned subsidiaries) for seaborne transportation of bulk cargoes. The company was incorporated in April 1963 with the main objective of meeting the transportation needs of iron ore exports of Chowgule & Company Pvt. Ltd. the parent company of the Group. Initially company started its operations with three liberty type ships which were soon replaced with modern bulk carriers to respond to the emerging market needs.
