About Atul Ltd

Atul Ltd was founded by Kasturbhai Lalbhai on September 5, 1947, and was inaugurated by India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, on March 17, 1952—making it one of independent India’s earliest private-sector industrial enterprises.

Today, it is among the largest integrated chemical companies in India and a part of the Lalbhai Group, serving a wide spectrum of industries worldwide. The company manufactures 900 products and 400 formulations, owns 140 brands, and serves 4,000 customers in 88 countries. Principal manufacturing facilities are in Gujarat (Atul, Ankleshwar, Panoli) and Maharashtra (Tarapur), supported by international subsidiaries in Brazil, China, Ireland, the UAE, the UK and the USA.

Atul reports two primary segments: Life Science Chemicals (active pharmaceutical ingredients and intermediates, crop protection chemicals) and Performance and Other Chemicals (adhesion promoters, bulk chemicals, epoxy resins and hardeners, intermediates, textile dyes), with an “Others” bucket (agribiotech, food products, services and others). 

In FY2024–25, consolidated segment revenue was: Life Science Chemicals ₹1,691.42 crore; Performance and Other Chemicals ₹3,818.01 crore; Others ₹73.92 crore.

The company manages nine sub-segments for reporting and execution: Aromatics; Bulk Chemicals and Intermediates; Colors; Crop Protection – Bulk Actives; Crop Protection – Retail; Floras; Pharmaceuticals; Polymers – Performance Materials; and Polymers – Retail.
